I have created a plethora of models using Maya during my game development. Some examples include a floating cannon that opens up to fire which is used in Prismatic Sphere, and a recreation of an actual building. I will discuss the models in some detail below. I have also compiled them into a project in Unity with a series of scenes in order to showcase those models and their animations. The project includes the ability to zoom, rotate, and trigger the animations for each of these models.
Gates
One gate model with two animations. The first shows the gate opening dramatically like a traditional set of double doors, while the other has the door slide down into the ground to give the gate a more mystical or futuristic feel to it. Both gates can reverse these animations to accomplish a closing animation. The gate itself is covered in simple runes amplified buy a glowing green texture to allow the gate to easily stand out amidst other objects in a room or level. |
Hedron Cannon
This model is used as an enemy in Prismatic Sphere, where it opens and fires a laser across the level at regular intervals to destroy the player, and then closes itself up again to protect its energy core. The cannon is covered with mystical runes glowing brightly, and the interior features a spinning core and rings which concentrate the power of the core into a focused laser beam. |
Glowing Cube
Also used in Prismatic Sphere, this time as the source of the player's ability to change colors. The object glows with a mystical blue light to indicate its importance. Due to its simplicity, this model could be used as a wide range of objects in different games. |
